Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of the Indian cricket team, has given a massive update on the injury-prone Indian pacers ahead of the fifth Test at The Oval. India managed to draw the Manchester Test after pulling off a batting hiest.
The Indian batters batted 143 overs in their second innings, scoring 425 runs for four wickets. India batted almost four sessions without losing a wicket on their second innings.
From losing two wickets in the very first over to tiring out the England bowlers by the end of the day’s play in Manchester, the Indian batters did a fabulous job. KL Rahul scored 90 runs, Shubman Gill scored his ninth Test ton, Ravindra Jadeja his fifth and Washington Sundar his maiden Test ton to a well-deserved draw in the fifth Test.

No Decision Made On Jasprit Bumrah - Gautam Gambhir
Meanwhile, after the end of the fourth Test, Gautam Gambhir gave a massive update on India’s pace contingent ahead of the fifth Test. Akash Deep missed the Test with a groin injury, Arshdeep Singh with an injury on his bowling hand. India included Anshul Kamboj ahead of Prasidh Krishna for the Manchester Test. Veterans Jasprit Bumrah and Mohd Siraj bowled a total of 63 overs between themselves in Manchester.
"All the fast bowlers are fit. There are no injury concerns,” said Gautam Gambhir in the post-match press conference.
Gambhir further responded to the workload concerns of Bumrah and Siraj with the series on the line at The Oval. While Siraj has played all four Test matches, Bumrah has already played three.
"We haven't had any conversation around the combination for the last Test. No decision has been made on whether Jasprit Bumrah will play or not. Ultimately, whoever plays, they will try and do the job for the country” Gambhir replied.
I Believe In Results - Gambhir
He concluded by saying that the team is absolutely pumped up for the series decider at the Oval starting from August 31.
"You are asking someone who only believes in results. I've said that in the past as well, that I believe in results. We are still 2-1 down in the series. This is the Indian team. Yes there is inexperience but this is still the best Indian team right now. So for me, I think we are still down 2-1. And hopefully we can try and make it 2-2. That's going to be a good achievement” Gambhir said.
