England skipper Ben Stokes had made the ball talk in the first two days of the Manchester Test. He ended up picking his maiden fifer in the series as he took key wickets to bowl India out for 354 runs in their first innings. It was also his first fifer in 8 years in Test cricket.
Stokes took the big wicket of his opposite number, Shubman Gill (12 runs off 23 balls) on day 1 of the Test match. He then came back to pick up the wicket of Sai Sudharsan (61 runs off 151 balls) as Sai’s patience finally came to an end.
Ben Stokes set the leg-side trap perfectly for Sai. He forced Sudharsan to hit the bouncer and he found Chris Woakes, who was perfectly placed in fine leg area. Stokes’s wicket of Sai gave England a big edge as the day came to an end.

First Fifer in 8 Years For Ben Stokes
On day 2, he was at his work once again, bowling tight from the other end. His bowling action helped him to bring the ball in and also leave the right-hander. Shardul Thakur ( 41 runs off 88 balls) was the first wicket for Stokes on day 2. He forced him to play outside the off stump and go hard at deliveries, catching the edge and nicking him off to the slips.
Washington Sundar was his next wicket. Sundar played 90 balls for his 27 runs. He too tried to pull a delivery that was on the leg side, managing to get caught in the fine leg area off Woakes who was perfectly placed again. Anshul Kamboj, who is making his debut, was his fifth wicket in the innings.
