Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj ended the Test series against England with 23 wickets from five Test matches. He was relentless as he played all five Test matches for the team with workload concerns on Jasprit Bumrah.

Siraj bowled 1113 deliveries and gave 746 runs in the series at an 32.43. He picked up one four-wicket haul and two fifers in the series, including one at Edgbaston and one at The Oval. He was the only bowler to bowl over 1000 deliveries in the series.

Incidentally, India lost the first Test and the third Test at Headingley and Lord’s, in which Jasprit Bumrah played. They won at Edgbaston and at The Oval, where he was rested due to his workload concerns. India managed to draw the fourth Test in Manchester, taking the series to the decider at The Oval.

Responsibility Gives Me Joy - Mohammed Siraj

Siraj well and truly led the Indian attack in Jasprit Bumrah’s absence. There was a lot of talk about who would lead the attack in Bumrah’s absence and Siraj decided to stop the talk by stepping up for his team.

Talking to RevSportz in a recent interview, Mohammed Siraj silenced all his critics by performing under pressure in Bumrah’s absence.

"When I get an opportunity to shoulder responsibility, even if you look at a mundane series, my performance always grows. Responsibility gives me a different kind of joy, and boosts my confidence," Siraj told RevSportz.

He further said that he needed to stop all the talk around him with Jasprit Bumrah rested from the side in the final Test match at The Oval.

"I told you at Edgbaston that people are talking about me, and it’s time to make all that talk stop. I usually am very aware of what I’m doing, and do not pay heed to what people are saying because people do not know my struggle. Despite that, I thought it’s time to stop such talk because it was getting too much. With Jassi Bhai (Jasprit Bumrah) not being there due to his back injury and his workload being managed, I tried my bit to keep the positivity in the bowling unit. Whenever I was talking to my teammates, Akash Deep and all, I was trying to spread the belief that we can do it. We can repeat what we have done already," he added.
