Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly has joined the bandwagon of former Indian players wishing the young team on their historic achievement at The Oval. After 1971 and 2007, when India won a Test series against England in England, in 2025, they managed to draw the series from an impossible position.
England needed just 35 runs to win on day five. However, it was India who did the unthinkable as they took the final four wickets to secure a win and draw the Test series.
India won more sessions than England across the five-match Test series and it was only fair that the series ended 2-2. Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj topped the batting and bowling charts, respectively.

Siraj won the Man of the Match as he picked up nine wickets in the match, including a fifer in the second innings. Gill was chosen as the Player of the Series by Brendon McCullum, while Harry Brook was chosen as the Player Of The Series by Gautam Gambhir.
Sourav Ganguly, while speaking to the reports said that he was confident about India winning the Oval Test after the end of day 4. England were clearly frustrated with the game moving into the final day and it clearly worked to India’s advantage.
"When the game of Day 4 finished, I had confidence that India was going to win. The pitch was really good, and Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna have done outstanding bowling," Ganguly told reporters.

Ganguly Lauds Siraj, Prasidh, Pant, Jadeja And Sundar
Ganguly also shared two posts on Twitter where he lauded the likes of Siraj and Prasidh in one and the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant and Washington Sundar in the other.
The series was very closely fought. Players from both teams put their bodies on the line and left everything on the pitch. Players from both teams got injured but continued to play on for the team. Purely from commitment perspective, this was the one of the best Test series ever played in modern cricket.
