Kagiso Rabada has served a one-month ban and is set to feature in the remainder of IPL 2025 for Gujarat Titans and the World Test Championship (WTC) Finals against Australia. He tested positive for a “substance of abuse” under anti-doping rules.
Kagiso Rabada was tested at the halfway mark of the SA20 while playing for MI Cape Town against the Durban Super Giants, and he accepted responsibility for the incident. He had to leave South Africa due to personal issues and has already missed a significant number of matches for the Gujarat Titans.

Kagiso Rabada Confims his Suspension
On Saturday, March 5, 2025, Kagiso Rabada confirmed that he had tested positive for substance abuse and was initially informed that he would miss the entire IPL and the WTC Finals against Australia later in June.
However, according to the South African Anti-Doping Agency, Rabada has accepted responsibility and has completed his one-month ban. He attended several training sessions and performed satisfactorily, which led to his eligibility to play.
A statement from the South African Institute for Drug Free Sport read:
“The player accepted responsibility for the doping offense and honored his provisional suspension. As per the South African anti-doping rules regarding substances of abuse, the player was given the opportunity to complete a substance abuse treatment program. After Mr. Rabada satisfactorily completed two sessions of his treatment program, his provisional suspension ended.
The player has effectively served a one-month period of ineligibility and may now resume participation in sport.”
Kagiso Rabada will join the Gujarat Titans camp this week and is eligible for their next game against the Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium on May 6, 2025.
