Rohit Sharma Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians former captain Rohit Sharma is having a tough season in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025). He has received a stern warning from former cricketer Virender Sehwag, who believes Rohit needs to decide his future in this format.

Despite a gradual improvement in his run tally, Rohit Sharma’s IPL numbers this season have not been impressive. Recently, he has been seen as an unreliable player for his team. Since stepping down from the captaincy, Rohit’s on-field participation has diminished, as he has often been used as an impact player. His presence on the field has been minimal, particularly since the introduction of the Impact Player role.

This season, Rohit Sharma's scores have been 0, 3, 8, 17, 18, and 28 runs, respectively. Although there is a slight upward trend in his scores, it is not sufficient to validate his status as a leading player on the team.

His aggressive batting form has been inconsistent, and his ability to remain at the crease has become a point of concern for fans. As one of the team’s best players, Rohit Sharma has failed to deliver, which has contributed to several defeats for the Mumbai Indians this season.

Speaking about Rohit’s form, Virender Sehwag was critical, suggesting that Rohit must take a serious look at his future in the format. In an interview with Cricbuzz,

Sehwag stated, “If you look at Rohit's IPL numbers in the last 10 years, he has scored more than 400 runs only once. He is not the kind of player who thinks he needs to score 500 or 700 runs.
If he does, he might. When he became the Indian captain, he expressed his desire to capitalize on the powerplay and take risks, wanting to make sacrifices alone. However, he must recognize that when he is not performing, it is his legacy that is at stake.”
