West Indies takes on Australia in a three-match series to kick off their World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle. The first Test will be played from June 25-29 in Barbados kicking off the series. The first Test starts froom 7:30 PM IST.
Australia lost to South Africa in the WTC 2025 final at Lord's and now kicks off their new WTC cycle as well. They were the runners-up of the last cycle after winning the WTC 2023 final.
Australia and West Indies have both announced their playing XIs for the first Test. There are a few major changes in the Australian XI, while West Indies have a new-look team and a new captain heading into the next cycle.

West Indies vs Australia 1st Test, Match Preview
West Indies have announced Roston Chase as their new Test captain while Australia continues to be led by Pat Cummins. Former West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite stepped down from captaincy, while he will continue to play Test cricket. The Windies pace attack seems to be an exciting prospect with Shamar Joseph picked in the XI alongside Jayden Seals and Alzarri Joseph. The trio can pose problems for the Australian batting unit at home.
For Australia, Sam Konstas is back in the XI with Usman Khawaja given another Test series after his recent struggles in the WTC final. Marnus Labuschagne is out of the Test series with poor form. Steve Smith is also not a part of the XI after picking up a finger injury in the WTC final. Josh Inglis returns to the side with Smith and Marnus absent. Cummins, Starc and Hazlewood form the pace bowling core with Nathan Lyon as the specialist spinner.
